August and September are always a busy time for events, and with more entries on that calendar comes the need for a few new looks to mix up your after hours wardrobe. I'm a big believer in not buying anything to wear just once (wedding dress aside!), so I'm always on the lookout for simple, stylish pieces that lend themselves well to events while still being effective on that cost per wear.
1. The Slinky Set
When in doubt, channel Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface. This is the perfect alternative for when you want to dress up without actually wearing a dress. A low back cami with barely there straps and fluid, silky trousers make for the perfect pairing. The best part is you can mix and match these separates back with other pieces in your wardrobe.
2. The Off Shoulder Blouse
Proving to be a new season essential, and I quite love that this one comes in a soft salmon pink. This would be my new solution for a more casual, daytime party or lunch. Pair it back with your favourite denim and an easy loafer to balance out the masculine and feminine.
3. The Updated LBD
How I could not include the iconic little black dress. This one offers a little twist via the softly flared sleeves and sleek shoulder cut outs. Keep accessories to a minimal and opt for a simple pair of earrings or an unexpected hint of metal, like this gold hair barette.
