Oh California, you beauty. Early in May I had the chance to experience a stay at the ACE Hotel located in Palm Springs. It was mine and Rohan's first time driving out to the desert and the change in both scenery and temperature was truly magical.
Apart from beautiful lazy days by the pool, the resort had so much to offer to make it a really great weekend away. Escaping from the city into a cosy king room with a patio was certainly a highlight, as was the nightly, communal fireplaces throughout the resort where you could sit back, relax, and even order a drink.
Both mornings started off bright and early (I wanted to make the most of those Summery days) with breakfast at King's Highway, their roadside diner. The awesome guys behind Five Leaves in Greenpoint, Brooklyn have collaborated on the menu to bring you breakfast staples such as their ricotta pancakes, avo toast and baked granola. It makes for a pretty perfect start to the day.
On Saturday, we borrowed bikes from the hotel and set out on a bike tour of the town. We were lucky to have very nice, warm temperatures (between 27-32 degrees celsius) that still allowed for a little outdoor activity. After making our way to Kaufmann House (separate post coming soon), we headed back to the ACE to get acquainted with the pool. Pretty much nothing beats lazy poolside lunches (those fish tacos!), and of course cocktails. There were quiet a few light and healthy options alongside your pool cafe classics like a great burger and fries.
All in all, it was a pretty special two days. I can't wait to visit again soon!
