I have been very lucky to be travelling around the world for the last two months, and while I have learnt many things (tuna tostadas in Mexico are life changing, The Broad in LA has one of the best modern art collections of all time etc.), I have also gained a lot of insight into I wear most from my day to day wardrobe, therefore what to invest in, and of course, what to pack.
This IRO jacket came into my life last December, and as much as I loved it, the weather in Sydney didn't quite allow for it become a wardrobe staple just yet. Two days into my Europe trip, it had become my best friend. Not only is a leather jacket warm, wind proof and comfortable, but it also instantly elevates every outfit, which is great when you're wearing a slightly different version of t-shirt and jeans most days! I rotated between my raw denim Levis, Citizens of Humanity culottes and these soft, stretch cropped denim by J Brand. Usually these were paired with a white t-shirt or shirt (plus a thermal if it was freezing) and always topped off with leather and sneakers for a day of exploring.
If you do ever find yourself thinking, can I really justify another pair of jeans, I'm here to tell you - yes you can! If living out of a suitcase for so long has taught me anything, it's that you can always do with another clean white tee, a perfectly soft pair of denim (I love old worn-in favourites for plane and train travel) or a classic pair of white sneakers (they do get dirty pretty quickly after-all!). Maybe you don't need more than one leather jacket, unless you want to introduce a different colour or fit, but it's definitely a key piece worth investing in.
