I love to entertain on the weekends - nothing compares to being surrounded by good company and spending an evening unwinding over great food, (champagne!) and conversation. I recently had the opportunity to collaborate with Champagne Duperrey which reminded me just how precious those moments spend relaxing (and sometimes indulging) with loved ones are. In the leadup to events season and Christmas, I wanted to share my top three tips for entertaining...
1. Set the scene
Decor and mood will set the tone for the evening, so start with an idea of what type of look and feel you're after. This will come across in the music, lighting, location and decorations. I love the unique artwork and individual floral arrangements at the Paddington Inn (above), I'll be taking notes for when I organise my next dinner party.
2. Plan your menu
Good food and good company go hand in hand, so keep those guests happy! Duperrey is a favourite for celebrating good times, I like to keep a bottle or two in an ice bucket so guests can enjoy at their leisure. I also love a good cheese plate, it's my appetiser of choice and makes for a great share plate before dinner or during drinks.
3. Celebrate in style
It wouldn't be event season without event dressing. When hosting, I always like to feel comfortable, but still look the part. My fallback outfits are the classic little black dress, an effortless jumpsuit or a great jacket thrown over a dress or two piece set. Don't forget the accessories - earrings are my current statement of choice.
