I'm just a girl, travelling between two seasons and trying to figure out what I feel like wearing...
Trust Milan and Paris to inspire me to add a little decadence to my wardrobe. Whether it be head to toe silk PJs as outerwear, a velvet robe or even embellished footwear, I can't deny the minimalist in me was a little excited by it all. However the biggest challenge I find when shopping overseas (particularly during Fashion Week) is how easy it is to get swept up in the moment, and occasionally make an impulsive decision and end up with something that doesn't stand the test of time. For me, it would have been a pair of velvet booties I tried on while in Milan - absolutely gorgeous and perfect for Fall in Europe, but sadly not so practical for back home.
In the end, compromise won out when I laid eyes on this little velvet dress by Maje. It's the kind of piece that I'll be able to wear between seasons, and falling into the LBD category, hopefully one I'll have for a while. I also managed to find a slightly more practical velvet pair of shoes that I can wear into summer (more on those soon!).
Once I get back home, I'll be unpacking my suitcase and doing a complete spring clean - very excited to get my wardrobe back in order!
p.s. if you are also vibing velvet, my friends at Shopbop are currently having a special sale where you can pick up some amazing pieces. Use the promo code MAINEVENT16 for between 25-30% off your order. The sale is running until midnight Friday 14th (EST). I'll confess I also have my eye on these trousers - this dress and top are a great find too! Head over here for the details.
